”Committed To Quality.”

Hello! My name is Hudson Galik, and I am the founder of Woodism.
I am a young neurodivergent woodworker on the autism spectrum, hence combing both my creative woodworking and unique attention to quality. I began by making simple wooden toys for children—helicopters, boats, animals, and more. Today, I create everything from custom picture frames to personalized letters and signs to small pieces of furniture.

BORN TO BUILD

I like to think that I was born with a love of woodworking in my blood and soul. See, even though I never met him, my great-grandfather, Ferdinand J. Galik, was a carpenter and woodworker. So, it’s no wonder that I discovered my lifelong passion for creating and building at an early age when I began playing with LEGO bricks at four years old!

learning to build

In 2017, at the age of 12, I began creating small projects from scrap wood around the house. I started to get pretty good at it, but it wasn’t until I was 14 that I really wanted to take things to the next level . In March 2019, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to learn more from Boyd Hutchinson in his Sheffield, Massachusetts home studio. Boyd is an expert in traditional Shaker furniture and, together, we made my first major piece of furniture—a Shaker-style table! Working with Boyd helped me improve my skills on the table saw, band saw, drill press, and belt sander. However, maybe the most important thing I learned from Boyd is that you’re never too old to keep getting better at your craft.

READY TO BUILD

By March 2020—the year when COVID arrived, many of us were stuck at home. However, with all of the knowledge I then understood, I decided to treat this as an opportunity to really study woodworking techniques and sharpen my skills. That was also the year I founded Woodism.

Today, I am still constantly looking for new ways to learn more techniques so i can gain more experience in woodworking. The more things I learn, the better Woodism becomes. after all, i am COMMITTED to quality!
